What is Photobiomodulation (PBM) and NovoTHOR®?
Firstly, to help make sense of this, we have broken down the word photobiolmodulation:
PHOTO
means “light” and refers to red and near infrared light
BIO
means “life” because it has a biological effect on the body
MODULATION
means “change”, to stimulate or inhibit
PhotoBioModulation (PBM) is a scientifically proven therapy that uses light to change the way the body works while NovoTHOR® uses PBM technology to help the body in a number of ways.
PBM is sometimes called Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) but PhotoBioModulation is the more commonly used term.
How Does Photobiomodulation (PBM) and NovoTHOR® work?
Light effects our body; for example think about how the sun helps us to use vitamin D. Similarly, PBM uses red and near infrared light to create changes in our body to reduce stress and increase energy. This has been supported by over 4000 laboratory studies and 500 human trials.

Although costs can vary, NovoTHOR treatment at Active Care Chiropractic costs £40 for a 30 minute appointment. This 30 minute appointment will include between 12 and 20 minutes inside the NovoTHOR red light therapy bed.
What is NovoTHOR used for?

We recommend that you spend 20 minutes inside the red light therapy bed per session, although this may vary from patient to patient. It’s common for some people to attend 2-3 sessions per week, and then others attend once per week. It’s important to assess how your body responds to the treatment, so you can judge how frequent your sessions need to be to gain maximum benefit.
