Chiropractors for Cycling

Back pain, neck pain and knee pain are all common cycling complaints – long hours in the saddle and the constant vibration don’t help along with the relatively fixed position of riding.

Ensuring your bike is correctly set up for you will help reduce any pain; as will improving flexibility. Improving flexibility reduces muscle tension to aid maximum output, and enjoyment while cycling. Using a range of techniques our chiropractors are able to help improve muscle flexibility and improve comfort when on and off the bike.

HOW ACTIVE CARE CHIROPRACTIC CAN HELP GOLF INJURIES

There has been much research done on the benefit of chiropractic care for improving golfer’s game. The twisted posture, bent over stance and fatigue that occurs during a game of golf is a recipe for lower-back trouble. Famously, Tiger Woods stated that going to his chiropractor is as important to him as practising his swing.

Active care chiropractic treat a number of golfers of all different levels and whilst many have lower back pain, symptoms can be found in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.

Initially many golfers carry on until they can’t play and are forced to seek help. Lower back pain – however mild – is a warning sign and discovering the underlying problem quickly can keep you on the green. By looking for the cause of the symptoms we can help reduce the likelihood of future injury.

Chiropractic Care for Runners

Running is probably the most natural of sports but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be injured or benefit from seeing one of our talented chiropractors to help prevent injury. Chiropractic can be used for injury prevention as it focuses on aligning the spine and pelvis that can be misaligned through impact injuries or as a result of going for a run after being sat in one position for a long period of time.

Active Care Chiropractic also treat runners (from recreational to professional athletes) with injuries such as Achilles tendonitis, IT Band Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, Shin Splints, Runner’s Knee and many others. Using Graston Technique and Active Release Technique (see specialist techniques), we can also reduce the effects of scar tissue to aid mobilisation in muscles and reduce or eliminate the pain that this may cause.

Avoiding injury means running is more enjoyable and ultimately that you are able to run more.

Active Care Chiropractic suggest the following ways of reducing the risk of injury:

  • Avoid doing too much to soon; building speed and distance should be gradual. (Remember that rest is important for recovery).

  • Cross-train when possible – one or two days of non-running will allow the body to recover.

  • Stretching your muscles can be an effective way to help to reduce the likelihood of injury.

  • If you start to feel pain or niggles, speak with a chiropractor to discuss how they can help you.
